About Cleveland Indians

Past seasons

The 2010 Cleveland Indians are looking to improve on their 4th place 2009 finish and have turned to new manager Manny Acta to lead the team into the future. Acta has a young squad to work with which includes Asdrubal Cabrera, who already has 297 hits in 290 major league games and South Korean superstar Shin Soo Choo.

Acta will also have young pitching prospects that are beginning to show promise out of the Cleveland farm system. The franchise is beginning to feel better about the offseason trade for Mitch Talbot, who now leads all major league rookie pitchers in wins. Be sure to get your Cleveland Indians tickets and come cheer your Indians to victory!

The Cleveland Indians were looking to improve on their 2008 record and possibly move into the playoffs. That didn’t happen as the Reds finished the year with a 62-91 record putting them below .500 for the first time since 1987. The franchise has announced that Manager Eric Wedge and his staff will not be returning to the team next season.

History

Originally founded as the Cleveland Forest City baseball team, the franchise would go through many name changes before settling on the Reds. Between 1894 and 1899, the franchise was known as The Grand Rapids Rustlers. Moving to Cleveland, the team changed their name to the Cleveland Lake Shores which lasted for one season. In between the years 1901-1902 the team was called the Cleveland Bluebirds and in 1902 the Cleveland Bronchos. In between 1903-1914 they were known as the Cleveland Naps and finally in 1915, the franchise changed their name to the Cleveland Indians.

The franchise has won two World Series titles (1920, 1948), five AL Pennants (1920, 48, 54, 95 & 1997) and seven Central Division titles (1995, 96, 97, 98, 99, 2001 & 2007).
